Who doesn’t love a pretty, girly cake on her birthday? But when that cake is so fresh, so moist, so subtle in its sweetness, so perfect in its textural consistency that it is a true work of dessert art – that is a birthday cake worth taking a man-sized slice of (and worth going back for a second slice or two after everyone’s gone home!)! Amy’s Bread never ceases to impress with their uncanny ability to bake their never-cloying, adult flavored layer cakes that need sweet icing to balance the subtlety of their truly perfect flavors. In this case, delicious yellow cake with a very subtle coconut flavor, silky pastry cream filling, coconut custard frosting – all topped with shredded coconut. Yum. Yum. And double yum. J – you are the absolute bestest!

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARGARET!! Looks like Joy brought the joy – and sweetness – as always. This coconut delight looks scrumptious against your signature blue.

I absolutely HAVE to know where you got that cake stand from! I’ve been looking for one like that for years!

We got it in lovely New Preston, CT. Not sure of the shop’s name, as it was a few years back. The shop had many Swedish antiques and sold both new and antique objects – very well curated. This one was new. It’s only 7 & 1/4″ in diameter and the name on the bottom says “Frances Palmer” – hope you find one!
