An early May trip to visit our dear friend Alicia and at her sprawling 1808 brick colonial in the rolling countryside of Bridgewater, CT revealed a number of seasonal treats, including sophisticated country living at its most eye-poppingly gorgeous, lilac bushes bursting into full bloom, an abundance of cuddly Labradors and bovines to play with and a traditional Italian Spring soup that was simply out of this world – thank you Alicia. Vic, Gaylynn and Michael for yet another enchanting visit as well as a sad reminder of how tiny our New York City apartments really are!

I can smell those lilacs, feel the cool cucumber going down, and the soft afternoon light on the grazing goat….
