The Oscar-winning director, Ken Russell left this world on November 27th. His lush, opulent, flamboyant and often dark visual sense was always arresting. At his best, he took something Busby Berkley, something Broadway Musical and something completely contemporary and made it entirely his own. In particular, scenes from the rock opera, Tommy (1975) and The Boy Friend (1971) will remain burned into our consciousness and our memories and forever.
